Game reports.

A very close game saw The Fox beat Ab. Legion 6-0 with leg scores of 13-12, 18-17, 13-12. For The Fox B.Parker needing a 4 to win all three legs duly obliged although in the first 2 legs he missed with his first 2 sticks. He later said that he thought that was the best 12 he had ever got. D.Butler hit 11, R.Nicholls 9 (his highest total of the season) & A.Bell 7. For The Legion B.Lacey, P.Ealey & N.Hazell 9 each & D.Sapey 8.

Ab.Con. Club condemned Ab. Utd. ‘C’ to the wooden spoon after beating them 6-0. The leg scores were 8-7, 9-8, 12-7. For The Con. Club ‘The Barrett Boys’ each scored 7 dolls. For ‘The Scarecrow Boys’ Jim Warrell top scored with 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ ended their season with a third 6-0 win on the trot. This time the victims were 4 man Old Masters and the leg scores were 12-5, 18-13, 16-8. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies 11, I.Morrison 10, B.Duff & T.Ward 9 each & P.Wright 7. For OM J.Barguss 12 & G.Barguss 9. Their 26 dolls was their lowest total of the season.

The Heathens struggled to a 6-0 win over 4 man College Oak with leg scores of 10-7, 16-9, 9-8. For The Heathens T.Downes 9, P.Soden & A.Woolloff 7 each. For The Oak D.Johns 10 & C.Bishop 9. ‘Denner’ needing 6 to draw the 3rd leg hit a slightly dodgy 5.

Spread Eagles’ lowest total of the season (33) was just enough to overcome Penlon 4-2. The leg scores were 11-9, 8-11 (not a misprint), 14-8. For The Spread M.Phillips 12 & J.Simmons 9. J.Bowler waited till this last game of the season to add his name to the blobbers list. For Penlon E.Jeffries & C.Crawford 8 each

Old Masters recorded their highest total of the season (47) in beating Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0. The leg scores were 15-11, 18-10, 14-8. For OM J.Barguss hit a brilliant 5-4-6, M.Hall 11, G.Barguss 10 & D.Coles 7. In reply for Utd. ‘C’ Jim Warrall 8 & Jon Warrall 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 12-10, 15-8, 11-9. For Utd. ‘A’ P.Wright 11, M.Davies 9 & I.Morrison 8. For Penlon T.Lach was again top scorer this week hitting 10 dolls.

Spread Eagle beat Ab. Con. Club 6-0 with leg scores of 10-9, 21-8, 16-12. For The Spread G.Brown 14, J.Bowler 11, J.Simmons 9 & M.Phillips 8. For Con. Club T.Barrett 9 & B.Clapton 7. P.Wiblin throwing like Dale Winton managed just 1 doll.

The Heathens beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 11-13, 15-12, 15-7. For The Heathens A.Woolloff 10, M.Sheridan, P.Soden & J.Ellaway 8 each & D.Holmes 7. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ A.Gregory 10 & S.Martin 8.

The Fox beat College Oak 6-0 with leg scores of 14-9, 10-9, 16-12. For The Fox B.Parker 11, A.Bell & N.Weston 9 each & D.Cross 7. For The Oak C.Bishop 10 & D.Johns 8.

Ab. Con. Club beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 20-11, 9-5, 14-9. For Con. Club ‘The Barrett Boys’ 11 each & M.Haynes 9. In reply for Penlon T.Lach top scored with 8.

Old Masters sprang a surprise when they beat Spread Eagle 4-2. The leg scores were 10-8, 14-11, 12-14. For OM J.Barguss hit a cracking 6 in his 12 dolls, M.Hall 9 & G.Barguss 7. In reply M.Phillips 10, J.Simmons 9 & G.Brown 7. Their 34 dolls was their lowest total of the season.

The Fox all but secured at least the runners up spot after inflicting the first 6-0 defeat of the season on The Heathens. B******s. Fill the blanks in yourselves. The leg scores were 17-13, 13-12, 18-10. For The Fox N.Weston hit a fine 13, B.Parker 12, D.Butler 10 & A.Bell 7. For The Heathens D.Holmes 9 & A.Woolloff 8.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 13-9, 15-12, 10-8. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies, B.Spicer & B.Duff all hit 9 dolls. In reply for Utd. ‘C’ D.Warrall 9 & ‘Gunner’ Brown 8.

Ab. Legion recorded their highest total of the season (45) in beating Ab.Utd. ‘B’ 6-0. The leg scores were 12-6, 15-10, 18-7. For The Legion D.Taylor 11, B.Lacey, P.Ealey & D.Sapey 9 each & N.Hazell 7. Less said about Utd. ‘B’ the better.

p.p.s. I may have already said that in future I will put competition fixtures on the notice board as giving them to captains to pass on is not happening. Sometimes I think that I’m the only one reading my notes.

p.p.p.s. The top of ‘A’ section looks to be done & dusted with 2 games to go but there are 3 teams in ‘B’ section scrapping to avoid getting the wooden spoon.
