‘B’ Section

Game reports.

Croft Nomads recorded a 2^nd 6-0 win on the trot which came against The Heathens who suffered their 3^rd 6-0 defeat and equalled their lowest total of 40.  The leg scores were 13-12, 19-16, 14-12.  For The Croft B.Stowell recorded his first double figures (12) which included a 6, L.Clapton 11, A.Bell & N.Weston 6 each.  For The Heathens P.Adams 13, P.Longford 11 & B.Townsend 8.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ hit their lowest total of the season (37) and struggled to a 3-3 draw with Ab. Utd. ‘C’ who avoided defeat for the first time.  The leg scores were 11-12, 11-9, 15-15.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix 13, B.Parker hit 9 and managed only 1 in the first leg when needing 2 to draw but came good in the 3^rd leg when hitting 5 to draw the leg and the match.  S.Humphries managed 6.  In reply for ‘The Scarecrow Boys’ M.Ashmall 10 (his first double this season – if not ever) & C.Keeley hit 9.  A.Webb  had the dreaded XXX and although he had the cleanest doll of the night he had managed to hit the ceiling first.

Ab. Con. Club hit their highest total of 52 in beating Penlon 5-1 with leg scores of 17-15, 13-13, 22-14.  For Con. Club Brian ‘Cracker’ Clapton 11 (yea I couldn’t believe it either), P.Barrett 10, D.Todd & T.Barrett 8 each.  For Penlon P.Wright & I.Morrison 7 each, G.Lee & D.Bellcourt 6 each.

The Vine drew 3-3 with Ab. Utd. ‘B’ with leg scores of 13-17, 16-16, 17-16.  For The Vine D.Hamilton 10, S.Peedell 9 & M.Dingle 8.  In reply for Utd. ‘B’ J.Ellaway 10, S.Martin 9, R.Taylor 7 & K.Empson 6.

Ab. Legion extended their lead at the top after a 4-2 win over Spread Eagle with leg scores of 17-10, 15-14, 10-17.  For The Legion S.Champ 9, P.Ealey included a blob in his 7, C.Brind & S.Wilson 6 each but Stuart managed to blob.  For The Spread P.Soden 11 and D.Mott hit 7.

Game reports.

Penlon beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 14-12, 10-20, 18-12.  For Penlon G.Lee & D.Bellcourt 8 each, ‘Steady’ Eddie Jeffries & I.Morrison 6 each, though Ian did have a blob in his.  For Utd. ‘B’ D.Harris 9, S.Martin 8, K.Empson and M.Putt (making his first appearance) 7 each.  J.Ellaway managed just 1 doll – sorry John but that’s what you get for drinking your own bathwater lol.

Ab. Con. Club recorded their highest total of the season (53) to inflict a first 6-0 defeat on Spread Eagle.  The leg scores were 16-15, 19-14, 18-16.  For Con. Club ‘The Barrett Boys’ and B.Clapton (again) scored 11 dolls each. For The Spread P.Soden 11 and J.Bowler 10.

Ab. Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 4-2 with Utd. ‘C’ recording their highest total so far (40).  The leg scores were 13-9, 17-16, 13-15.  For The Legion P.Ealey & N.Baldwin 8 each, D.Sapey 7 and S.Wilson 6.  In reply for Utd. ‘C’ Jon Warrell 8 (his highest this season), M.James 7 and M.Ashmall 6.

Utd. ‘A’ 4-2 with leg scores of 16-13, 20-17, 14-16.  For The Croft N.Weston 13, L.Clapton 12 (his highest), B.Stowell 10 & A.Bell 6.  For Utd. ‘A’B.Parker 12, B.Duff  11 (his first double figures), D.Dix failed to hit double figures for the first time and hit 8 along with K.Fisher and T.Ward hit 7.  The Croft gained just 4 points from their first 4 games, then amassed 20 points in their subsequent 4 games – what a difference N.Weston makes.  Nige, isn’t it about time you had another cruise.

The Heathens used their ‘get out of jail’ card to beat The Vine, whose 42 dolls was their lowest total so far.  The score was 4-2 with leg scores of 11-9, 18-20, 18-13.  For The Heathens P.Adams included a 6 in his 14, B.Townsend 11, T.Downes 9 and D.Holmes 8.  In reply for The Vine M.Dingle 9 (his highest), J.Hamilton 8 and D.Hamilton 6.

Spread Eagle ‘clawed’ their way to a 4-2 win over Ab. Utd. ‘A’ with leg scores of 18-13, 15-11, 18-21.  For The Spread P.Soden 10, B.Newman 9, M.Beachey and D.Mott 7 each and J.Bowler 6.  In reply for Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix included a 6 in his 14, T.Ward also hit a 6 in his 11, S.Humphries and B.Parker 8 each.

Ab. Legion inflicted a first 6-0 loss on Penlon with leg scores of 16-15, 12-11, 18-10.  For The Legion S.Champ included a 6 in his 15, S.Wilson 7 and C.Brind 6.  For Penlon D.Bellcourt and E.Jeffries 6 each.

Croft Nomads recorded their highest total (55) and their first 6-0 win of the season against Ab. Utd. ‘C’.  The leg scores were 16-10, 21-12, 18-12.  For The Croft N.Weston 13, S.Enock 12, L.Clapton 11 (his first double figures), R.Nichols 7 and B.Stowell 6.  In reply C.Keeley top scored with 7.

The Vine beat Ab. Con. Club 4-2 (despite CC hitting their highest total of 48)  with leg scores of  15-14, 15-19, 17-15.  For The Vine J.Pownceby 11, S.Peedell 7, M.Dingle & D.Hamilton 6 each.  For Con. Club D.Todd, B.Clapton and P.Barrett all hit 9 dolls.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat The Heathens 4-2 with leg scores of  17-14, 18-15, 9-17.  For Utd. ‘B’ J.Ellaway top scored with 9 (b*****d), S.Martin 7 and Dave ‘No Blobs’ Harris hit 6.  For The Heathens P.Adams hit 5-5-5, B.Townsend 11, D.Holmes 10 and A.Woolloff included a blob in his 6 (t****r).

Game reports.

Ab. Con. Clubs’ highest total so far (45) was enough to beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2.  The leg scores were 11-12, 18-10, 16-13.  For Con. Club ‘The Barretts’ each scored 10 & B.Clapton hit 7.  In reply for Utd. ‘B’ K.Empson & J.Ellaway 7 each and S.Martin 6. Dave ‘Blobber’ Harris managed 1 in the 3^rd leg to avoid the dreaded XXX.

Ab. Legion went top of the table after recording their highest total so far (59) and their first 6-0 win.  Their victims were The Vine who suffered their first 6-0 loss.  The leg scores were 20-14, 20-18, 19-15.  For The Legion C.Brind 12, S.Champ and a rejuvenated D.Sapey 11 each, P.Ealey and S.Wilson 8 each but Paul did include a blob in his.  For The Vine D.Hamilton 9, S.Peedell and J.Pownceby 8 each.

Four man Penlon managed a creditable 3-3 draw with Ab. Utd. ‘A’ with leg scores of  11-19, 15-10, 15-15.  For Penlon G.Lee included a 6 in his 13 and D.Bellcourt hit 7.  I.Morrison needing 2 to draw the 3^rd leg and the match played to the crowd and left it to his last 2 sticks to do so.  For Utd. ‘A’ B.Parker included a 6 in his 14, D.Dix 11, K.Fisher 8 and D.Davies 7.

The Heathens inflicted a 6-0 defeat on Ab. Utd. ‘C’ who recorded their lowest total so far (26).  The leg scores were 14-11, 17-9, 13-6.  For The Heathens P.Adams 14, B.Townsend 11, A.Woolloff  8 and P.Longford 6.  For ‘The Wurzels’ C.Keely  top scored with 6.

Croft Nomads recorded their first win of the season when beating Spread Eagle 4-2 with The Spread suffering their first defeat and hitting their lowest total so far (37).  The leg scores were 13-11, 17-10, 14-16.  For The Croft N.Weston (making his first league appearance this season) 10, L.Clapton 9, B.Stowell 8 despite a first leg blob and I.Brook 7. For The Spread B.Newman 9 and D.Mott 8.

Game reports.

Spread Eagle (the only unbeaten team) beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ who picked up points for the 2^nd week running.  The score was 4-2 with leg scores of 15-11, 18-14, 12-13.  For The Spread B.Newman and P.Soden 9 each, Si Kinnaird and J.Bowler 6 each.  In reply for Utd. ‘C’ M.James recorded his first double figures of the season (11) and Jono Warrell hit 6.

Penlon recorded their highest total so far (50) in beating Croft Nomads who are the only team without a win.  The score was 6-0 with leg scores of 13-11, 18-14, 19-16.  For Penlon D.Bellcourt 11, P.Wright included a blob and a 6 in his 10 & G.Lee hit 9.  For The Croft A.Bell 10, L.Clapton 8 (his 4^th 8 on the trot), S.Enock and B.Stowell 6 each.

The Heathens struggled to a 4-2 win over Ab. Con. Club with leg scores of 14-18, 14-13, 14-10.  For The Heathens D.Holmes, B.Townsend and P.Adams all hit 10 and P.Longford 8.  In reply for Con. Club B.Clapton top scored with 10 (no honestly, he did) , T.Barrett 8 and P.Barrett 6.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ ended The Vines’ winning streak by beating them 4-2.  The leg scores were16-15, 13-18, 17-13.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix included a 6 in his 14, B.Parker 10, D.Davies 9, K.Fisher 7 and B.Duff 6.  For The Vine ‘The Hamiltons’ each hit 9 and R.Harrison 6.

Ab. Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2  with leg scores of 18-12, 17-16, 15-19.  For The Legion S.Champ and S.Wilson both hit their 1^st double figures (11) with Stuart hitting a 6 in his, P.Ealey and N.Baldwin 7 each.  D.Sapey needing just 1 to win the 2^nd leg  left it till his very last stick to do so.  In reply for Utd. ‘B’  S.Martin 10 (his 1^st double figures), R.Taylor 9, K.Empson and J.Lesiakowski 6 each.

p.s. Forgot I hadn’t had The Legions competition form last week and total has risen to £221, the best since I’ve  kept records in 2007-08. Brilliant.

The Vine continued their winning start to the season by beating Croft Nomads 5-1, despite The Croft hitting their highest total so far (46).  The leg scores were 18-18, 18-15, 17-13.  For The Vine D.Hamilton 12, J.Pownceby 10 and J.Hamilton 9.  In reply for The Croft B.Stowell & A.Bell 9 each, S.Enock and L.Clapton 8 each.

Spread Eagle beat The Heathens who couldn’t record a point or C.R.A.P. for short.  This was a second 6-0 defeat for The Heathens in 3 games.  The leg scores were 18-15, 17-13, 14-12.  For The Spread J.Bowler included a 6 in his 13, P.Soden 9 and B.Newman 6.  For Heathens P.Adams 12, D.Holmes, P.Longford and B.Townsend 8 each.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ counterparts 4-2 with leg scores of 16-8, 15-13, 13-15.  D.Dix hit a 6 in his 14, K.Fisher hit 9 for the 3^rd week running, B.Duff 8, B.Parker 7 and D.Davies 6 .  For Utd. ‘B’  ‘Loanee’ J.Ellaway top scored with 7 and S.Martin 6.

Ab. Legions’ lowest total so far (40) was enough to see off  Ab. Con. Club 4-2 with leg scores of  13-9, 16-15, 11-14.  It was also The Legions’ 1^st win of the season and for them S.Champ 9, N.Baldwin 7 and C.Brind 6.  In reply ‘The Barrett Boys’ 7 each and B.Clapton 6.

Utd. ‘C’ 4-2  meaning Utd. ‘C’ picked up their first points of the season.  The leg scores were 13-12, 12-9, 14-15.  For Penlon G.Lee   8 and I.Morrison 6.  For Utd. ‘C’ C.Keely 9 and ‘Big Bad Jon’ Warrell hit 6 dolls.  Vowt ‘The Mad Dutchman’ Van Galen played his very first competitive game and although he managed 2 dolls I think you should stick to Dutch dyke pole vaulting mate lol.

p.s.  Fees from competition entries amounted to £197 and although it was down on last season it is still a very good turnout for comps – well done.

p.p.s.  Don’t forget to indulge in the rolls as along with comp fees is our only means of income.

p.p.p.s.  The handicaps are playing a big part this season as ‘A’ section sides have picked up 37 pts so far while ‘B’ section sides have amassed  53.

Game reports.

The Vine and 4 man Penlon kicked off the new season with The Vine running out 4-2 winners.  The leg scores were 17-9, 11-12, 17-10.  For The Vine J.Hamilton 11, D.Hamilton 7 and M.Manion 6.  In reply for Penlon I.Morrison top scored with 8 dolls.  Terry ‘Polyfilla’ Phipps recorded the first blob of the season and recorded 1 doll – cows a**e and banjo springs to mind lol.

Ab. Con. Club beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 16-10, 14-11, 11-10.  For Con. Club Brian ‘Cracker’ Clapton 8, P.Wiblin & T.Barrett 6 each.  For Utd. ‘C’ C.Keeley top scored with 7 dolls.

A good game saw Croft Nomads draw 3-3 with Ab. Legion with leg scores of 13-19, 16-15, 14-14.  For the renamed Croft Nomads A.Bell & S.Enock 10 each & L.Clapton 8.  For the Legion N.Baldwin (a close season signing) 11, S.Wilson (another newbie) & C.Brind 8 each and S.Champ 7.

Spread Eagle drew 3-3 with Ab. Utd. ‘B’ with leg scores of 15-18, 19-15, 17-17.  For The Spread D.Mott 11, J.Bowler 9, B.Newman 7 and P.Soden (who has also switched allegiance) hit 6.  For  Utd. ‘B’ Heathens reject J.Ellaway top scored with 10 dolls (come back John all is forgiven lol), D.Harris 9, Jason ‘Peaky Blinder’ Lesiakowski 8 and K.Empson 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ clanged off 56 dolls to run out easy 6-0 winners over The Heathens.  The leg scores were 19-11, 18-15, 19-16.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix, S.Humphries and B.Parker a dozen each, D.Davies 11 and K.Fisher 9.  For The Heathens P.Adams recorded the first 6 of  the season in his 14.

The Heathens came from behind to beat Ab. Legion 4-2 and earn their first points of the season.  The leg scores were 17-21, 20-14, 17-15.  For Heathens P.Adams included a 6 in his 16, B.Townsend also managed a 6 in his 15, D.Holmes & P.Longford 9 each.  In reply for Legion P.Ealey 10, S.Champ 9, C.Brind & S.Wilson 8 each and N.Baldwin 6.

The Vine beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 10-7, 14-13, 19-16.  For The Vine J.Hamilton 10, M.Dingle 7 and D.Hamilton 6.  For Utd. ‘C’ Jon Warrell 7 and C.Keeley 6.  T.Harrhy managed just 1 doll.  If you think that was c**p just wait till you see the other reports.

Con. Club sprang a surprise by beating Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 4-2 .  The leg scores were 13-12, 13-15, 14-11.  For Con. Club ‘The Barrett Boy’s’ managed 9 each and B.Clapton hit 6.  D.Coles recorded the dreaded XXX.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix 11, K.Fisher 9, D.Davies 7 and B.Parker 6.

A close game saw Spread Eagle beat Penlon 4-2 with both teams recording 49 dolls.  The leg scores were 17-16, 17-16, 15-17.  For Spread M.Beachey 12, B.Newman and J.Bowler 10 each.  Simon Kinnaird did a Dave Coles and hit diddly s**t.  For Penlon G.Lee 12, I.Morrison 8, E.Jeffries and T.Phipps 6 each.

In  another surprise result Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat Croft Nomads 6-0 with leg scores of 16-12, 20-14, 22-15.  For Utd. ‘B’ ‘Headliner’ J.Ellaway 14, J.Lesiakowski 9, S.Martin and K.Empson 8 each and D.Harris 7.  For Croft S.Enock 9, N.Biggs and L.Clapton 8 each and D.Cross 6.
