Ab. Utd. ‘A’ just scraped a 4-2 win over Ab. Legion to clinch top spot but Legion were to good in the last leg. The scores were 14-13, 15-14, 14-17. For Utd. ‘A’ L.Clapton 13, P.Wright 11, J.Gapper 8 & G.Brown 7. For The Legion J.Driver 11, N.Hazell 10, D.Sapey 9 & B.Lacey 8. Did Utd. ‘A’ get a ‘dodgy doll’ ?

The Fox won 6-0 against an Ab. Con. Club side of derelict outpatients. You would think the NHS might have helped out with this match. The Fox ran out easy victors, starting & finishing with sixes. The leg scores were 16-7, 18-7, 19-12. For The Fox M.Sheridan included a 6 in his cracking 15 dolls, B.Parker also hit a 6 in his 13, D.Butler & N.Nuttall 10 each. For Con. Club J.Castle & J.Simms each hit 7 dolls.

Ab. Utd. ‘C’ allowed the ‘B’ side to finish on a high with a 0-6 victory although the scores were far from brilliant, 7-10, 10-14, 9-11. For Utd. ‘C’ A.Gregory 8 & D.Harris 7. For Utd. ‘B’ P.Mulford 10, D.Davies & I.Morrison 7 each. P.Arnold throwing like a left-handed Policeman managed just 1 doll.

An excellent performance from Penlon saw them draw 3-3 with College Oak with leg scores of 14-10, 10-16, 16-16. For Penlon E.Jeffries was star man with 11 dolls – his first double figures of the season. V.Smith 10 & T.Lach 8. For The Oak D.Johns 12, P.Soden, S.Enock & D.Cross 8 each. Penlons 40 dolls was their highest total of the season.

Spread Eagle drew 3-3 with Old Masters who made history by allowing a guest player – injured B.Spicer. The leg scores were 13-8, 11-12, 11-11. For The Spread, Helen making a rare appearance was the star with 9 dolls. J.Bowler hit 8 & B.Newman 7. In reply for OM M.Hall 9, T.Downes 8 & J.Barguss 7.

The Fox beat Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 4-2 with leg scores of 17-13, 16-17, 16-11. It would have been 6-0 had M.Rusher not ‘blobbed’ in the 2^nd leg. For The Fox M.Sheridan 13, D.Butler & B.Parker 10 each, M.Rusher & N.Nuttall 8 each. For Utd. ‘A’ J.Gapper 11, P.Wright 9, G.Brown 8 & L.Clapton 7. Ab. Utd. ‘A’ now look unstoppable – a bit like a Toyota Avensis. Had The Fox won 6-0 they & Utd. ‘A’ would both been on 74 points going into the last game.

4 man Old Masters beat College Oak 4-2 with leg scores of 9-13, 17-15, 13-9. For OM G.Barguss 12, A.Woolloff included a 6 in his 11 & J.Barguss hit 10. For The Oak A.Pocock 11, D.Johns 9, P.Soden & S.Enock 7 each. M.Walsh managed just 3 dolls. This was his 1 st game in 28 years, not that it really noticed because he was c**p way back then as well. Nice to see you Mick.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat Penlon 5-1 with leg scores of 11-6, 12-12, 14-8. For Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies 10, I.Morrison 9, B.Clapton 8 & P.Mulford 7. For Penlon T.Lach top scored with 10 & V.Smith hit 7. J.Carter, a.k.a. Mr.Blobby managed another 3. No, not dolls …. blobs.

Spread Eagle drew 3-3 with Ab. Con. Club with leg scores of 9-11, 14-14, 13-7. For The Spread B.Worrell & B.Newman 9 each & S.Kinnaird 7. For Con. Club T.Barrett included a 6 in his 13 dolls & Merv ‘The Swerve’ Chadwick hit 9.

Ab. Legion needing to win 6-0 to stop Utd. ‘B’ from wrapping up the ‘B’ section managed only a 4-2 win over Ab. Utd. ‘C’. The leg scores were 14-10, 10-6,9-12. For The Legion D.Sapey 10 & J.Driver 9. In reply for Utd. ‘c’ D.Harris top scored with 10 dolls.

Old Masters beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 14-12, 11-15, 13-11. For OM J.Barguss11, G.Barguss & T.Downes 9 each. For Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies 11, B.Clapton & I.Morrison 8 each & P.Mulford 7. But for rotten Terry & James messing things up in the 1^st leg Ab. ‘B’ should have won. Goddammit ! (isn’t that blasphemy Pete). Total dolls were shared but unfortunately the points advantage went to the ‘A’ section team.

Spread Eagle beat Ab. Legion 4-2 with leg scores of 14-11, 14-15, 14-11. For The Spread J.Bowler included a 6 in his 14 dolls, B.Newman 9 & N.Tame 8. In reply for The Legion D.Sapey 12 & P.Ealey 8. Under pressure Jason threw an excellent 6 in the 2^nd leg but Bert just failed to capitalise. In the following leg Jason was on target for another 6 but just failed with the last stick.

The Fox beat College Oak 4-2 with leg scores of 12-10, 14-18, 19-7. For The Fox B.Parker 13, N.Nuttall 10, M.Sheridan 9 & M.Rusher 7. For The Oak S.Enock 9, P.Soden & A.Pocock 7 each. Wow – look at the stars first leg – saved by the last 2 players again. Rubbed in by The Oak in the 2^nd leg but unable to keep the standard up…7 to 19.

Ab. Con. Club beat Penlon 4-2 with leg scores of 9-6, 5-8, 9-8. Top scorer of the match was Penlons T.Lach with 7 dolls. I have seen and played in some awful low scoring matches but this one is the very worst I have ever witnessed. The Con Clubs 23 dolls was their lowest total of the season so far.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ throwing first in each leg cruised to an easy 6-0 victory over a lack lustre Ab. Utd. ‘C’ who seemed to be competing with Con. Club & Penlon in scoring as little as possible. Some improvement in the last leg though. The leg scores were 18-8, 13-5, 17-13. For Utd. ‘A’ P.Wright included a 6 in his 13 dolls, L.Clapton 12, J.Gapper 11 & S.Pugh 9. Utd. ‘A’ with 2 sixers were dominant and even S.Pugh managed one – (Petes words not mine Steve). For Utd. ‘C’ K.Souch top scored with 7 dolls. Their 26 dolls equalled their lowest total so far.

The Fox failed to take full advantage ofUtd. ‘A’s slip up when beating Ab. Utd. ‘c’ 4-2. The leg scores were 14-11, 12-14, 16-9. For The Fox M.Sheridan 12, M.Rusher 11, D.Butler & B.Parker 7 each. In reply for Utd. ‘c’ S.Martin & D.Harris 8 each, A.Gregory & K.Souch 7 each.

College Oak beat Ab.Utd. ‘B’ 6-0 with leg scores of 15-11, 16-13, 14-9. For The Oak A.Pocock & F.Tracey 10 each, P.Soden & D.Cross 9 each & S.Enock 7. For Utd. ‘B’ M.Louch1O & .B.Clapton 8. This was Utd. ‘B’s ftrst 6-0 defeat of the season.

Old Masters beat a depleted Ab. Con. Club 6-0 with leg scores of 10-7, 14-11, 13-8. For OM G.Barguss 12 & A.Woolloff 10. For The Con. Club M.Chadwick & J.Simms 7 each. R.North, throwing like a ruptured Bulgarian weight-lifter managed just 2 dolls. Bet you didn’t know that Ron is into hip-op …. don’t worry I’ll explain it next week. Nick ‘The Juggler’ Patterson making his ftrst indoor appearance hit 4 dolls. Nice to see you Nick and don’t worry you will soon get used to the p**s taking. Con. Clubs 26 dolls equalled their lowest total of the season.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ extended their lead at the top of the ‘B’ section after a 6-0 win over Ab. Con. Club with leg scores of 14-10, 12-8, 13-8. For Utd. ‘B’ I.Morrison 12, P.Mulford & B.Clapton 8 each & .D.Davies 7. For the Con. Club T.Barrett top scored with 9 dolls. Con. Clubs 26 dolls was their lowest total of the season so far.

The Fox beat Spread Eagle 6-0 with leg scores of 19-11, 15-12, 11-9. For The Fox N.Nuttall 12, B.Parker 11, M.Rusher 10 & D.Butler 8. For The Spread J.Bowler 9 & .B.Worrell 8. B.Newman clanged off the first 5 dolls but his arm tightened and his a**e twitched and then managed to hit just 1 doll in his next 13 sticks.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ produced the 4^th 6-0 win of the night when they beat Penlon with leg scores of 12-7, 15-8, 14-6. For Utd. ‘A’ L.Clapton 10, S.Pugh 9, J.Gapper & P.Wright 8 each. For Penlon T.Lach top scored with 8 dolls. The rest could not have scored in a br*****.

Ab. Utd. ‘C’ beat College Oak 4-2 with leg scores of 14-13, 13-7, 6-16. D.Harris top scored for Utd. ‘C’ with 8 dolls, A.Gregory amazingly out done Bert by hitting a 6 in the first leg then followed it with a 1 and a blob. P.Arnold also scored 7. For The Oak F.Tracey included a 6 in his 11 dolls, P.Soden 8, A.Pocock & D.Cross 7 each. S.Enock throwing like a Swiss clockmaker with no fingers hit X-X-3.

A ‘funny old game’ saw The Fox beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 10-9, 21-13, 10-7 (check them scores out).

For The Fox N.Nuttall12, M.Sheridan hit 1-6-1, D.Butler & B.Parker also scored 8 dolls each. In reply for Penlon V.Smith 9 & T.Lach 8.

A cracking game saw Old Masters beat Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 4-2 with leg scores of 14-13, 14-15, 17-13. For OM A.Woolloff throwing like a Dutch speed skater on E’s included a 6 in his 14 dolls, G.Barguss & T.Downes each hit 10. For Utd. ‘A’ J.Gapper 11, G.Brown 10 & S.Pugh 9. OM’s 45 dolls equalled their highest total of the season despite 2 blobs.

Ab.Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 14-11, 16-9, 12-20. For The Legion D.Sapey 11, J.Driver 10, P.Ealey 8 & N.Hazell 7. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ M.Louch included a 6 in his 11 dolls (his first double figures of the season), D.Davies 9, P.Mulford & I.Morrison 7 each.

Spread Eagle beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 11-8, 13-8, 15-13. For The Spread J.Bowler 10, R.Worrell 9, S.Kinnaird & B.Newman 7 each. For Utd. ‘C’ S.Martin top scored with 8 dolls. This was the Spreads first 6-0 win of the season & Utd. ‘C’s first 6-0 defeat.

Ab.Con. Club beat College Oak 4-2 with leg scores of 10-8, 11-20, 14-12. For Con. Club a back to form O.Gill top scored with 11, T.Barrett 8 & J.Castle 7. M.Haynes managed a 1-1-1 ‘Nelson’, 1 eye, 1 arm, 1 b**l. (Lets see if Paul edits this). In reply for The Oak P.Soden 11, A.Pocock 10 & F.Tracey 7.

p.s. Don’t forget its competitions next week (24^th) and all Captains have copies of this so no excuses for not knowing who’s playing. Anyone asking what competition’s are being played will be totally ignored.

In a close game The Fox overcame Old Masters 5-1 with leg scores of 16-16, 17-14, 16-15. For The Fox M.Sheridan hit a cracking 14 dolls, Norman ‘where the hell has he been all season’ Nuttall12, D.Butler 10 & B.Parker 9. For OM ‘The Barguss Boys’ 11 each, A.Woolloff 10 & T.Downes 8. OM’s highest total of the season was to no avail.

College Oak beat Spread Eagle 4-2 with leg scores of 13-10, 11-8,9-14. For The Oak D.Cross 10 & F.Tracey 7. For The Spread J.Bowler 10, S.Kinnaird 8 & B.Newman 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘c’ beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 15-7, 13-7, 14-6. For Utd. ‘c’ K.Souch 10, D.Harris 9, A.Gregory & S.Martin 8 each & P.Arnold 7. In reply for Penlon M.Jeffries top scored with 8 dolls. E.Jeffries & T.Phipps managed 1 doll each (should have gone to specsavers). Utd ‘C’s 42 dolls was their highest total of the season so far and their first 6-0 win. Penlons 20 dolls was their lowest total of the season.

from a bout of ten-donitis. Do you get it, ten-doni oh! forget it.

College Oak beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 15-7, 16-12, 12-4. For The Oak A.Pocock & S.Enock 11 each, D.Cross 9 & F.Tracey 7. In reply for Penlon T.Lach 8 & V.Smith hit 7 but the rest were c**p. J.Carter & M.Jeffries throwing like aggrophobic Venezuaelan pot-holers managed 2 dolls each. This was the Oak’s first 6-0 win of the season.

Old Masters had to come from behind (good skill) to beat 4 man Spread Eagle with leg scores of 8-10, 15-10, 15-13. For OM T.Ward (guesting) included a 6 in his 13 dolls, T.Downes 9, M.Hall & A.Woolloff7 each. For The Spread B.Newman 9, S.Kinnaird, J.Bowler & a disgruntled D.Mott 8 each.

Ab.Utd. ‘B’ drew 3-3 (obviously) with Ab.Utd.’C’ with leg scores of 10-10, 13-8,9-13. For Utd. ‘B’ I.Morrison top scored with 10 dolls. I think Stevie Wonder was the second highest scorer. For Utd. ‘c’ P.Arnold 8, A.Gregory & S.Martin 7 each.

The Fox beat Ab. Con. Club 5-1 with leg scores of 15-5, 16-13, 11-11. For The Fox a below par M.Sheridan managed only 11 dolls, N.Nuttalll0, M.Rusher 9 & B.Parkers 7 dolls included a first leg blob. For Con. Club M.Chadwick top scored with 8. The less said about the others the better.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ inflicted a third straight defeat on 4 man Fox with a 6-0 win. The leg scores were 11-10, 15-14, 15-9. For Utd. ‘B’ P.Mulford, B.Clapton & D.Davies each scored 10 & I.Morrison 7. For The Fox M.Sheridan included a 6 in his 14 dolls & B.Parker 11. P . Stone managed just 3 dolls – ( have you thought of joining the Wednesday night crib league Paul).

Spread Eagle beat Penlon 5-1 with leg scores of 10-9, 11-9, 12-12. For The Spread B.Newman 9 & S.Kinnaird 7. In reply for Penlon V.Smith top scored with 8 dolls.

p.s. After tonights singles preliminary round I will have a better idea of how to get outstanding competition games played. I’ve decided against playing any Captains Cup games after a league night as would be something else for someone to whinge about.

Ab. Con. Club kicked off a delayed start to the new year with a 4-2 win over Ab. Utd. ‘C’ with leg scores of 12-8, 9-12, 15-9. For The Con. Club T.Barrett 11 & J.Castle 9. In reply for Utd. ‘C’ S.Martin & P.Arnold hit 8 each. Utd. ‘C’s 29 dolls equalled their lowest total of the season so far.

Ab. Legion beat The Fox 4-2 with leg scores of 14-12, 7-18, 14-12. For The Legion P.Ealey 11, D.Sapey & J.Driver 7 each. For The Fox D.Butler included a 6 in his cracking 15 dolls, D.Rusher & B.Parker 9 each. This was The Fox’s 2^nd defeat on the trot.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat Spread Eagle 5-1 with leg scores of 12-5, 14-14, 14-10. For Ab. Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies 11, Brian ‘Cracker’ Clapton & I.Morrison 10 each. For The Spread S.Kinnaird 8 & B.Newman 7.

Old Masters beat The Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 14-8, 14-11, 16-14. For OM T.Downes 12, G.Barguss included a 6 in his 11 dolls, M.Hall, A.Woolloff & J.Barguss each scored 7 dolls. For Penlon ‘Steady Eddie’ Jeffries 8, J.Carter & T.Phipps 7 each. OM’s 44 dolls equalled their highest total of the season so far.

Due to a total misunderstanding the game between College Oak & Ab. Utd. ‘A’ had to be cancelled, which leaves me with bit of a headache as to when I can get it rearranged. But, hey-ho.
