Game reports.
The Vine beat Ab. Legion 4-2 with leg scores of 16-12, 16-15, 15-21. For The Vine J.Pownceby recorded his first double figures of the season (13), D.Hamilton 12 and M.Dingle 7. For The Legion P.Ealey 12 (also his first double of the season), C.Brind 10 and D.Sapey hit 8.
Ab. Utd. ‘B’ recorded their highest total of the season (43) in beating Spread Eagle ‘B’ whose 35 dolls equalled their lowest total. The score was 5-1 and the leg scores were 11-11, 13-12, 19-12. For Utd. ‘B’D.Harris 8, M.Putt & Roy ‘The Pope’ Taylor 7 each, S.Martin & J.Lesiakowski 6 each. In reply for Spread ‘B’ S.Enock 8, B.Stowell hit a 5 to draw the first leg and then hit two 1’s to finish with 7 (that’s for those of you who struggle with addition). I.Brook hit 6.
Spread Eagle ‘A’ beat The Heathens 4-2 with leg scores of 11-8, 17-11, 14-20. For The Spread J.Simmons 9, S.Humphries making his first appearance hit 8, J.Bowler 7, P.Brown and J.Gapper 6 each, though John did include a blob in his. For The Heathens A.Woolloff having recovered from a severe bout of whooping cough and diarrhoea managed 10, D.Butler & B.Townsend 9 each and P.Longford after a 1st leg blob hit 7.
Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat their ‘C’ counterparts 4-2 meaning that Utd. ‘C’ have taken points from the top two sides. Well done boys. The leg scores were 14-12, 17-7, 11-12. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix included a 6 in his 13, B.Parker hit 9 but missed out on securing all 6 points by hitting 1 in the 3rd leg when needing 2 to draw. P.Soden and D.Davies 7 each with Dave getting a 3rd leg blob. K.Fisher weighed in with 6 dolls.
Penlon beat Ab. Con. Club 4-2 with leg scores of 16-15, 11-14, 16-10. For Penlon T.Lach returned to form and hit his first double of the season (10), I.Morrison 9 and P.Wright 7. For Con. Club T.Barrett 9, B.Clapton & P.Barrett 8 each. A.Wood throwing like a constipated mathematician managed just 2 dolls (he worked it out with a pencil, Alan).
