The Fox had to come from behind to beat Ab. Legion 4-2 with leg scores of 13-15, 17-6, 16-14.  B.Parker top scored for The Fox with 13 dolls.  He hit 1 in the first leg and followed it with 2 sixes.  D.Butler 11 & S.Enock 10.  In reply for The Legion D.Sapey 10, P.Ealey & C.Brind 8 each.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ recorded their highest total of the season (40) to beat The Heathens 6-0 who recorded their lowest total of the season (29).  The leg scores were 14-7, 12-9, 14-13.  For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin 13, A.Gregory 11 & D.Harris 7 who clanged off the doll with his last stick in the 3rd leg to ensure the 6-0 win.  For The Heathens A.Woolloff 9, T.Downes 8 & P.Soden 7.  J.Ellaway throwing like a man with no arms managed just 1 doll.  It seems The Heathens only do 6-0’s as they have won 3 and lost 2 by that score.

Old Masters beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 5-1 with leg scores of  9-9, 10-6, 13-7.  For OM G.Barguss, M.Neal & J.Barguss each recorded 8 dolls.  In reply for Utd. ‘C’ Dave ‘Fox’ Warrell top scored with 8 dolls.

Spread Eagle recorded their 4th 6-0 win on the trot.  Their victims were Penlon and the leg scores were 16-11, 12-9, 14-9.  For The Spread M.Phillips 12, J.Simmons 11 & S.Kinnaird 10.  For Penlon I.Morrison 13 & T.Lach 8.  Glad to report there was no damage to the ceiling this week – Terry Phipps wasn’t playing.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ recorded their highest total of the season (50) in beating Ab. Con. Club 6-0 with leg scores of 18-6, 15-13, 17-15.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies hit a brilliant 5-4-6, P.Wright 11, Leigh ‘The Champ’ Clapton 10 & B.Duff 8.  For the Con. Club B.Clapton top scored with 10 & T.Barrett hit 9.

Spread Eagle recorded their 3rd 6-0 win on the trot.  Their victims were Ab. Utd. ‘A’ and the leg scores were 15-13, 17-14, 18-16.  For The Spread J.Simmons 12, D.Mott 11, M.Phillips 10, G.Brown 9 & J.Bowler 8. In reply for Utd. ‘A’ L.Clapton 12, P.Wright 10, K.Fisher 9 & D.Davies 8.

Old Masters recorded their 1st win of the season with a 4-2 win over Ab. Con. Club.  The leg scores were 14-12, 13-10, 11-15.  For OM G.Barguss 12 & J.Barguss 10.  In reply for the Con. Club T.Barrett 13, B.Clapton & P.Barrett 8 each.

The Fox also recorded a 3rd 6-0 win on the trot in beating Penlon.  The leg scores were 13-9, 15-6, 17-6.  For The Fox A.Bell 13, S.Enock 10, D.Fletcher 8, D.Cross & B.Parker 7 each. E.Jeffries top scored for Penlon with 7.  Penlons’ 21 dolls was their lowest of the season – so far.

The Heathens beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 11-4, 18-5, 17-7.  For The Heathens D.Holmes 12, P.Soden & T.Downes 10 each, J.Ellaway & A.Woolloff 7 each.  R.Pepperell throwing like an out of work Bolivian goat herder managed just 1 doll.  Utd. ‘C’s 16 dolls was their lowest of the season.

Ab. Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 5-1 with leg scores of 11-11, 8-7, 15-9.  For The Legion D.Sapey 11, P.Ealey 10 & C.Brind 7.  For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin & D.Harris 8 each.

The Heathens beat Ab. Con. Club 6-0 with leg scores of 15-11, 16-13, 18-14.  For The Heathens A.Woolloff 13, D.Holmes & J.Ellaway 10 each, P.Soden 9 & T.Downes 7.  In reply for Con. Club B.Clapton 11 & The ‘Barrett Boys’ 10 each.

 

Ab.Utd. ‘A’ recorded their 3rd 4-2 win on the trot.  The victims were Penlon and the leg scores were 10-11, 13-12, 12-4.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies 10, B.Duff & L.Clapton 8 each.  For Penlon T.Lach & E.Jeffries each scored 7 dolls, although Eddie blotted his copybook with a 3rd leg blob after a 5 in the 2nd.  Terry ‘Polyfilla’ Phipps although bouncing a few off the ceiling (again) did record 6 dolls.

 

Ab. Legion beat Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 16-5, 12-9, 15-8.  For The Legion C.Brind (making his 1st appearance of the season) 11, D.Taylor & D.Sapey 9 each, B.Lacey & P.Ealey 7 each.  For ‘The Muckspreaders’ Jon Warrell top scored with 9 dolls.  D.Warrell throwing like a Peruvian brothel keeper managed just 1 doll.

 

The Fox beat Ab.Utd. ‘B’ with leg scores of 15-5, 15-10, 18-8.  For The Fox B.Parker 13, D.Cross (also making his 1st appearance) 10, D.Fletcher 9, A.Bell & S.Enock 8 each.  For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin top scored with 7 dolls.

 

Spread Eagle beat Old Masters 6-0 with leg scores of 15-11, 18-14, 16-7.  For The Spread M.Phillips included a 6 in his 13, J.Simmons 11, D.Mott 10, J.Bowler 8 & S.Kinnaird 7.  For OM G.Barguss top scored with 13 dolls.  OM’s opening 3 games were against The Heathens, Ab.Utd. ‘A’ and Spread Eagle – horrendous run of fixtures for them and I would just like to add that it was nothing personal lads.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 10-6, 11-6, 15-10.  For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin 10, A.Gregory 8 & D.Harris 7.  In reply for Penlon I.Morrison top scored with 10.  T.Phipps hit the ceiling more times than he hit the doll which was just once.

 

Spread Eagle beat The Heathens 6-0 with leg scores of 16-15, 18-10, 18-13.  For The Spread J.Simmons, D.Mott & M.Phillips 12 each & J.Bowler 10.  For The Heathens D.Holmes 10, J.Ellaway & A.Woolloff 9 each.

 

The Fox went top of the league after beating Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0.  The leg scores were 15-2 (yes 2), 18-7, 16-8.  For The Fox A.Bell 12, S.Enock & B.Parker 11 each although Barrys’ did include a slighty dodgy 6 in his & D.Fletcher 10.  Utd. ‘C’ couldn’t record a point or C.R.A.P. for short. S***, just remembered The Heathens score.

 

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Old Masters 4-2 with leg scores of 15-13, 17-13, 10-13, a case of unlucky 13. for OM.  For Utd. ‘A’ B.Duff 11, L.Clapton 10, D.Davies 8 & K.Fisher 7.  For OM J.Barguss 11, G.Barguss & A.Pocock 9 each.

 

Ab. Con. Club beat Ab. Legion 5-1 with leg scores of 11-11, 13-11, 16-15.  For Con. Club. M.Dawson 10, T.Barrett 9, P.Barrett 8 & B.Clapton 7.  For The Legion hit a cracking 5-4-5 & C.Brind hit 9

The Heathens and Old Masters kicked off the new season with The Heathens running out 6-0 winners.  The leg scores were 17-8, 13-9, 16-9.  For The Heathens A.Woolloff included a 6 in his 13, P.Soden 9, D.Holmes, J.Ellaway & T.Downes 8 each.  In reply for OM new recruit A.Pocock top scored with 9 dolls.

 

The Fox beat reigning champions Spread Eagle 4-2 with leg scores of 19-13, 17-12, 12-13.  For The Fox D.Butler 12, A.Bell 11, S.Enock 9, new signing D.Fletcher & B.Parker 8 each.  For The Spread J.Simmons 12, M.Phillips 9 & J.Bowler 7.

 

Ab. Con. Club beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 11-5, 10-15, 13-10.  For Con. Club T.Barrett 10 & M.Dawson (another new face) hit 8. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ A.Gregory S.Martin each scored 8 dolls.

 

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Ab. Legion 4-2. The leg scores were 14-6, 18-14, 14-15.  For Utd. ‘A’ P.Wright included a 6 in his 13, D.Davies 12, L.Clapton 8 & B.Duff 7.  For The Legion Roy ‘The Pope’ Taylor 10, D.Sapey 8 (including a 4 to win the 3rd leg) & P.Ealey 7.

A very close game saw The Fox beat Ab. Legion 6-0 with leg scores of 13-12, 18-17, 13-12. For The Fox B.Parker needing a 4 to win all three legs duly obliged although in the first 2 legs he missed with his first 2 sticks. He later said that he thought that was the best 12 he had ever got. D.Butler hit 11, R.Nicholls 9 (his highest total of the season) & A.Bell 7. For The Legion B.Lacey, P.Ealey & N.Hazell 9 each & D.Sapey 8.

Ab.Con. Club condemned Ab. Utd. ‘C’ to the wooden spoon after beating them 6-0. The leg scores were 8-7, 9-8, 12-7. For The Con. Club ‘The Barrett Boys’ each scored 7 dolls. For ‘The Scarecrow Boys’ Jim Warrell top scored with 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ ended their season with a third 6-0 win on the trot. This time the victims were 4 man Old Masters and the leg scores were 12-5, 18-13, 16-8. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies 11, I.Morrison 10, B.Duff & T.Ward 9 each & P.Wright 7. For OM J.Barguss 12 & G.Barguss 9. Their 26 dolls was their lowest total of the season.

The Heathens struggled to a 6-0 win over 4 man College Oak with leg scores of 10-7, 16-9, 9-8. For The Heathens T.Downes 9, P.Soden & A.Woolloff 7 each. For The Oak D.Johns 10 & C.Bishop 9. ‘Denner’ needing 6 to draw the 3rd leg hit a slightly dodgy 5.

Spread Eagles’ lowest total of the season (33) was just enough to overcome Penlon 4-2. The leg scores were 11-9, 8-11 (not a misprint), 14-8. For The Spread M.Phillips 12 & J.Simmons 9. J.Bowler waited till this last game of the season to add his name to the blobbers list. For Penlon E.Jeffries & C.Crawford 8 each

Old Masters sprang a surprise when they beat Spread Eagle 4-2. The leg scores were 10-8, 14-11, 12-14. For OM J.Barguss hit a cracking 6 in his 12 dolls, M.Hall 9 & G.Barguss 7. In reply M.Phillips 10, J.Simmons 9 & G.Brown 7. Their 34 dolls was their lowest total of the season.

The Fox all but secured at least the runners up spot after inflicting the first 6-0 defeat of the season on The Heathens. B******s. Fill the blanks in yourselves. The leg scores were 17-13, 13-12, 18-10. For The Fox N.Weston hit a fine 13, B.Parker 12, D.Butler 10 & A.Bell 7. For The Heathens D.Holmes 9 & A.Woolloff 8.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 13-9, 15-12, 10-8. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies, B.Spicer & B.Duff all hit 9 dolls. In reply for Utd. ‘C’ D.Warrall 9 & ‘Gunner’ Brown 8.

Ab. Legion recorded their highest total of the season (45) in beating Ab.Utd. ‘B’ 6-0. The leg scores were 12-6, 15-10, 18-7. For The Legion D.Taylor 11, B.Lacey, P.Ealey & D.Sapey 9 each & N.Hazell 7. Less said about Utd. ‘B’ the better.

p.p.s. I may have already said that in future I will put competition fixtures on the notice board as giving them to captains to pass on is not happening. Sometimes I think that I’m the only one reading my notes.

p.p.p.s. The top of ‘A’ section looks to be done & dusted with 2 games to go but there are 3 teams in ‘B’ section scrapping to avoid getting the wooden spoon.

A good game saw Spread Eagle, although outscored 42-47, beat Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 4-2. The leg scores were 15-14, 11-19, 16-14. For The Spread M.Phillips 13, J.Simmons 11, S.Kinnaird 8 & J.Bowler 7. In reply for Utd. ‘A’ D.Davies, B.Spicer & B.Duff 11 each & I.Morrison 8.

Ab. Legion drew 3-3 with The Heathens with leg scores of 9-9, 13-17, 18-11. For The Legion D.Taylor 11, D.Sapey 10 & R.Taylor 9. For The Heathens D.Holmes included a 6 in his 11 dolls, P.Soden also scored 11 & A.Woolloff 9.

Ab.Utd. ‘B’ beat College Oak 5-1 with leg scores of 13-13, 13-12, 11-7. For Utd. ‘B’ A.Gregory 10 & S.Martin 9. Last week Steve scored 10 dolls and 1 failed to mention it – sorry about that, but I have put an apology in the Oxford Mail this week. For The Oak A.Pocock, F.Tracey & D.Johns all scored 7.

The bottom of the table clash saw Ab. Utd. ‘C’ draw 3-3 with Penlon. The leg scores were 10-10, 10-13, 11-9. For Utd. ‘C’ R.Pepperell 10 & Jon Warrall 9. I.Brown thinking he was at a firing range let loose a barrage of sticks that nearly had someone’s hand off. Future callers and sticker uppers be warned. For Penlon T.Phipps 10 & M.Jeffries 8.

Old Masters beat Ab.Con.Club 6-0 with leg scores of 12-9, 12-11, 10-9. For OM J.Barguss 10, G.Barguss & M.Hall 8 each. For Con. Club T.Barrett 10, P.Barrett 9 & B.Clapton 8 – that was his 5th 8 on the trot. I think J.Simms must have played blind-fold as he failed to score any dolls. Some of you should be grateful to him as had it not been for him several of you would have got a poor write up.
