Penlon drew 3-3 with Ab.Utd. ‘C’ with leg scores of 10-9, 7-7, 7-13. For Penlon T.Lach 9 & E.Jeffries 7. T.Phipps retired hurt after 1st leg with an injured arm. He had been unable to finish a game of chess the night before complaining that he was unable to lift his ‘bishop’. For Utd. ‘C’ A.Gregory 9 & S.Martin 7.

The Fox beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 4-2 with leg scores of 8-15, 17-15, 16-14. For The Fox N.Weston 10, D.Butler 9 (despite a 1st leg blob), N.Nuttall & B.Parker 8 each. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies 12, T.Ward 11, D.Holmes 9 & I.Morrison 7. Utd.’B’ had to settle for runners up spot, this after leading by 11 points after 12 games.

Ab. Legion secured the ‘B’ Section title after beating Ab. Con. Club 6-0. The leg scores were 14-8, 12-11, 15-10. For The Legion N.Hazell & D.Sapey 11 each & P.Ealey 9. This was their 3rd 6-0 win on the trot. For Con. Club T.Barrett 10 & P.Wiblin 7.

Old Masters beat Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 6-0 with leg scores of 13-11, 11-10, 14-11. For OM M.Hall & J.Barguss 9 each, G.Barguss 8 & A.Woolloff 7. For The Abingdon ‘Not so young’ Farmers Jon Warrell12 & Jim Warrell 7. This defeat left Utd. ‘A’ holding the ‘Wooden Spoon’.

A John Simmons inspired Spread Eagle ensured they won the ‘A’ Section after beating 4 man College Oak 6-0, in what turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax to the season. The leg scores were 19-6, 17-9, 18-10. For The Spread ‘Simmo’ hit a cracking 5-4-5, Graham ‘Golden Balls’ Brown 13, M.Phillips 10, B.Newman 9 & J.Bowler 8. The Spreads 54 dolls was the highest total of any team this season. For The Oak A.Pocock 8 & S.Enock 7. This was The Oaks first 6-0 defeat of the season whilst also recording their lowest total (25).

p.s. Tonight we kick off with the Threes followed by the Captains Cup, both of which will be played down to the final. It would be great if those people not playing or collecting cups on Finals Night (11th) could turn out to lend their support. The Fox beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 13-11, 14-10, 13-12. For The Fox B.Parker 13, N.Weston 10 & R.Berry 8. For Penlon T.Lach 11 & ‘The Jeffries Boys’ each hit 7. The Penlons 33 dolls was their highest total of the season.

A very close game saw Spread Eagle beat Old Masters 4-2. The leg scores were 14-14, 12-12, 15-14. For The Spread J.Simmons 13, G.Brown 9, J.Bowler 8 & M.Phillips 7. In reply for OM G.Barguss 11, J.Barguss 10, M.Hall & A.Woolloff 7 each.

Ab. Con. Club beat Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 6-0 with leg scores of 11-8, 9-5, 10-8. For Con. Club T.Barrett 10 & M.Haynes 7. For Utd. ‘A’ R.Pepperell top scored with 6. M.Fenton managed just 1 doll. Mick, have you tried standing with your back to the doll and throwing the sticks between your legs. Might be worth a try mate.

College Oak Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 5-1 to make it very interesting at the top. The leg scores were 11-11, 18-17, 13-11. For The Oak P.Soden & C.Crawford 10 each, A.Pocock 9 & L.Clapton 7. For Utd. ‘B’ T.Ward 10, D.Holmes, D.Davies & I.Morrison 8 each.

Ab. Legion recorded their highest total of the season (47) to beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0. The leg scores were 20-12, 13-7, 14-13. For The Legion C.Brind included a 6 in his 13, P.Ealey, N.Hazell & D.Sapey each hit 10. For Utd. ‘C’ K.Souch & D.Harris 8 each.

p.s. There should be a great finale to the end of the season as 3 teams are still in contention to win the ‘A’ section, while in the ‘B’ section the top two teams play each other. You could not have wished for a better climax to the season. Good luck to all teams involved.

Ab. Utd. ‘C’ beat College Oak 4-2 with leg scores of 9-8, 18-10, 7-15. For Utd. ‘C’ S.Martin 9 & P.Arnold 7. Pete, after hitting a 5 in the 2nd leg got over excited & blobbed in the 3rd. For The Oak D.Cross10 & A.Pocock 8. The Oaks’ 33 dolls was their lowest total so far. Two of Utd. ‘C’s 3 wins have come against ‘A’ section opposition.

Old Masters drew 3-3 with The Fox, the first draw of the season for both teams. The leg scores were 8-16, 15-11, 14-14. For OM A.Woolloff 11, M.Hall 9 & J.Barguss 7. In reply for The Fox B.Parker 11, N.Nuttall 9, D.Butler & N.Weston 8 each.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ regained top spot after a 6-0 win over Ab. Utd. ‘A’. The leg scores were 17-11, 14-12, 13-7. For Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies & I.Morrison 10 each, B.Clapton & M.Davies (making his 1st appearance of the season) 9 each. For Utd ‘A’ R.Pepperell 9 & Jon Warrell 7. M.Ashmall recorded his highest total of the season – 6. This doubled his previous best.

Ab. Legion beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 14-10, 17-7, 7-5. For The Legion C.Brind 12, D.Sapey 9 & N.Hazell 7. For Penlon T.Lach top scored with 8 dolls. Penlon played with 4 players for the 2nd week running, due to the non-appearance of “Sleepy Ed” Jeffries.

College Oak overcame 4 man Penlon 4-2 with leg scores of 13-11, 9-10, 13-10. For The Oak L.Clapton 9, A.Pocock & C.Crawford 7 each. D.Cross needing 1 to draw the 2nd leg managed to blob. For Penlon T.Lach 11 & R.Holmes 10. Penlon equalled their highest total of the season (31) despite being a man short.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 4-2 with leg scores of 12-10, 14-16, 8-6. For Utd. ‘A’ R.Pepperall 11 & Jon Warrell 7. Utd. ‘A’s 34 dolls was their highest total of the season. For Utd. ‘C’ A.Gregory 11 & S.Martin 10.

The Fox beat Ab. Legion 4-2 with leg scores of 15-10, 17-10, 15-16. For The Fox D.Butler clanged off 13 dolls, B.Parker 11, N.Weston 9, D.Rusher & N.Nuttall 7 each. Nigel had a ‘senior moment’ in the 2nd leg when after hitting the winning doll started to walk, even though he still had 2 sticks in his hand. When the penny eventually dropped he did see the funny side of it. In reply for The Legion C.Brind 10, N.Hazell 8 & P.Ealey 7.

Old Masters struggled to a 4-2 win over Ab. Con. Club with leg scores of 5-6 (yes 5-6), 13-10, 13-12. OM could not believe their luck when Con. Club set 6 in the first leg, and Con. Club could not believe theirs when OM managed only 5. Pathetic. For OM G.Barguss top scored with 10 dolls. In reply for Con. Club J.Castle 8 & R.North 7. P.Wiblin throwing like a short-sighted Argentinian corned beef inspector managed just 1 doll.

Spread Eagle beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 6-0 to go level on points with them at the top. The leg scores were 14-11, 16-13, 17-13. For The Spread J.Simmons included a 6 in his 12 dolls, M.Phillips hit 10 after a 1st leg blob, G.Brown 9, J.Bowler & B.Newman 8 each. That’s five 6-0 wins in the last 6 games for them. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ T.Ward 9, D.Holmes 8, D.Davies & I.Morrison 7 each. Utd. ‘B’s 1st 6-0 defeat of the season coincided with their lowest total (37).

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ drew 3-3 with Ab. Con. Club with leg scores of 11-11, 9-10, 19-12. For Utd. ‘B’ T.Ward included a 6 in his 11 dolls, which delighted his grand-daughter Lili-Mae, who was watching. D.Holmes 8, D.Bowler & D.Davies 7 each. For Con. Club J.Sims hit a cracking 14 dolls & J.Castle 8.

College Oak beat The Fox 5-1 – their heaviest defeat of the season. The leg scores were 13-13, 15-12, 15-12. For The Oak L.Clapton 12, P.Soden 10, A.Pocock, C.Crawford & S.Enock 7 each. For The Fox B.Parker 11, D.Butler 10, N.Nuttall 8 & D.Rusher 7. I think P.Stone questioned my memory recently, but I do seem to remember you only hitting 1 doll tonight Paul.

In the bottom of the table clash Penlon recorded their 1st win of the season. It was a 4-2 win over Ab. Utd. ‘A’ with leg scores of 7-8, 10-8, 9-8, something Utd. ‘A’ absolutely ‘eighted’. For Penlon T.Lach 9 & T.Phipps 7. In reply for ‘The Muckspreaders’ D.Warrell top scored with 8, despite a 3rd leg blob.

Ab. Legion beat Old Masters 4-2 with leg scores of 10-11, 13-11, 15-7. For The Legion N.Hazell & D.Sapey 9 each, N.Tait & P.Ealey 7 each. For OM J.Barguss top scored for the 5th week running, this week hitting 9 dolls. T.Downes & A.Woolloff 8 each. G.Bargus managed a ‘Nelson’. That’s 1-1-1 – ( 1 eye, 1 arm, 1 b**l), & J.Lessa…J.Lesac… J.Lessi…Jason managed just 1 doll.
