Despite the fact that it’s the month of October next week we are going to take a chance on the weather (which is forecast to be OK) on Tuesday next week and have another attempt to play the Founders & Legends Trophy which is open to all registered players aged 50+!
We have considered a number of options including indoor, outdoor, holding over until next year, but on balance we have decided to give it a go next Tuesday 3rd October at the original scheduled venue Abingdon Conservative Club with registration from 7pm until 7.20 when the draw will take place and play will commence at 7.30pm. As always entry is on the night, but once registration is complete the draw will take place and no late entries will be possible.
This is a long established Competition and we hope that many players will want to compete for this trophy which was new and kindly donated by our former Chairman, Reg Couch and replaced the former Founders shield which many will know was rather large and one which was probably not suitable for any trophy cabinet or mantlepiece! The holder of the trophy currently is Steventon Sports Derek Fletcher who beat Abingdon United’s Nick Baldwin in last year’s final. Which was well attended with over 27 players taking part!
Please make sure all of your eligible team mates know of the date, time and registration details and let’s try to make this, the last outdoor competition of the 2023 season, a good finish with lots of competitive Aunt Sally played in the right spirit and with all the usual Aunt Sally banter!
