Ab. Con. Club beat Ab. Legion 4-2 with leg scores of 5 (yes five) – 15, 12-7, 10-9. For Con. Club T.Barrett top scored with 8 dolls. For Legion P.Ealey 10 & N.Hazell 9. D.Sapey needing 2 to draw the 3rd leg managed 1 doll, this after a blob in the 2nd.

Spread Eagle beat Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 14-7, 9-7, 15-11. For The Spread J.Driver 10, J.Bowler 9, N.Thame 8 & C.Crawford 7. In reply for Penlon R.Holmes top scored with 7. M.Jeffries hit a ‘Nelson’, that’s 1-1-1. If you don’t know what ‘Nelson’ means, ask me.

A consistant College Oak beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 4-2 with leg scores of 14-9, 14-10, 14-16. For The Oak A.Pocock 11, D.Cross 10 & S.Enock 9. For Utd. ‘C’ D.Harris 10, A.Gregory 9 & S.Martin 8. I take back what I said about you last week Dave.

A ‘Funny old game’ saw Old Masters inflict the first defeat of the season on Ab.Utd. ‘A’. The score was 4-2 & the leg scores were 9-10, 17-16, 14-12. For OM G.Barguss 12, A.Woolloff 11 & H.Harris (guesting) hit 7 dolls. Helen also scored 7 in the first game of the season which I forgot to mention – sorry Helen. For Utd. ‘A’ L.Clapton 12, G.Brown 11 & J.Gapper 7. OM & Utd. ‘A’ both recorded their lowest totals of the season

ps after great deliberation and a few sleepless nights I decided to keep Ab. Utd. ‘B’ in the ‘B’ section despite winning it last year, but if you win it again this year you’re going up. Why am I explaining myself to everyone anyway – who’s running this show, so if you have any thoughts about the league formation, do me a favour and keep them to yourselves. Oh, and by the way I lied about the sleepless nights.

pps Don’t forget the 3 stick rule tonight and that ‘B’ Section sides get 2 dolls a leg against ‘A’ Section opposition. Good luck to you all.

Sixers :- T Barrett, T.Ward, J.Bowler, B.Parker, P.Soden, A.Woolloff.

Game reports.

Ab. Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 14-9, 13-12, 10-7. For The Legion P.Ealey 10, D.Taylor 9, D.Sapey 8 & B.Lacey 7. For Utd. ‘C’ S.Martin top scored with 10 dolls. Utd. ‘C’s 28 dolls was their lowest total so far while The Legions highest total so far of 37 earned them their first points of the season. The Legions R.Taylor and Utd. ‘C’s H.Harris were the lowest scorers of the evening with 3 dolls each. Not going to say anything disrespectful about them as Helen is a nice lass and as for Roy, he was almost a relative of mine. Yes we had to pay a doctor a lot of money to stop that happening.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ drew 3-3 with Spread Eagle with leg scores of 11-11, 14-10, 13-18. For Utd. ‘B’ D.Davies 12 & D.Holmes 9. In reply for the Spread J.Bowler 10, D.Mott 9 & J.Driver 8.

A close game saw Old Masters beat College Oak 5-1 with leg scores of 14-14, 17-15, 15-13. For OM T.Downes 12, A.Woolloff included a 6 in his 12, G.Barguss 10 & J.Lesiakowski 7. In reply for The Oak D.Cross 11, P.Soden, A.Pocock & F.Tracey 8 each & S.Enock 7.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat a spirited Penlon 6-0 with leg scores of 13-12, 13-12, 14-8. For Utd. ‘A’ G.Brown 11, L.Clapton 10 & T.Ward 9. For The Penlon T.Lach 10 & M.Jeffries 7. Penlons 32 dolls was their highest total so far.

The F….F…F…Fox turned up with 4 players and beat Ab. Con. Club 6-0 who themselves played with 3 players plus 1 guest. The leg scores were 10-6, 14-11, 18-9. For The Fox M.Sheridan included a 6 in his 12 dolls, D.Butler, N.Weston & B.Parker 10 each. For Con Club J.Sims 8 & R.North, who despite almost decapitating the caller with 1 stick, managed 7 dolls. May I suggest you merge your teams together next season so that you may actually have a full side each week. You should all know by now that sarcasm is one of my strong points.

Ps I forgot to thank a few people at the start of the season. Thanks to D.Dix for repairing the floor in the store room. Thanks to Brian, Barry and Ron for repairing the Aunt Sally ‘cupboard’, and anyone else I may have forgotten.
