Tomorrow Night sees our Finals Night at Abingdon United FC commencing at 7.15pm (practice from 6.45!)
There’s a lot to get through hence the early start so please would all competitors arrive on time and be ready to play at 7.15 when the first final will be the Lower Section pairs final between John Pownceby and Jerry Austin representing The Vine against Simon Skelly and Danny Towlerton representing the Fleur de Lys and that will commence at 7.15.
Following that it will be the final of the Skol Trophy, the team 8’s handicap competition which will be competed for by Abingdon Conservative Club and Challow & Childrey CC who will have an 8 doll advantage in each leg.
Once that game is concluded the Con Club will take to the oche again to play Croft Nomads A in the final of the 3’s competition, we hope this competition will take place at around 8.15 and then it will be the turn of Croft Nomads to do a quick turnaround as they face Plum Pudding in the final of the 5’s competition hopefully at about 8.45 and then the final team competition sees Croft Nomads in action again against the Con Club’s A team in the 4’s final.
When that tie is concluded the final of the Captains & Secretaries will close the evening with Dave Dix and Steve Enock returning to the oche to do the honours one more time. Both players will have thrown potentially 72 sticks each on the night!
All matches will be the normal format the best of 3 legs.
Time will be of the essence on the night so we will aim for a finish not later than 10pm if at all possible.
In the interests of timeliness can all Captains ensure they are tossed up before the end of the previous game and names on the board in good time.
Sticker ups and Callers should take their place as soon as the game is over.
If necessary we can hold the final competition, the Captains & Secretaries over until Presentation night in October.
The Summer season will conclude outdoors on Wednesday 23rd with the over 50’s Founders & Legends Trophy which will be held at Abingdon Conservative Club again with an early start (time to be be confirmed) and then our season will be celebrated and all of our finalists and runners up will get the recognition of their achievements at our Presentation Night on Friday October 18th.
