Game reports. ‘Oh, what a night’ !!
Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat The Vine 4-2 with leg scores of 17-15, 12-16, 17-11. For Utd. ‘A’ D. Dix having scored with his first 17 sticks needed his last stick to record that elusive 6-6-6 and with the crowd holding their breath and everyone willing him to do it, failed by the narrowest margins. So unlucky Dave but I’m sure it’s only a matter of time. D.Davies hit 9, T.Ward & B.Parker 7 each and K.Fisher 6. For The Vine M.Dingle and D.Hamilton each hit 9 dolls.
The Heathens scraped the 2nd and 3rd legs to record a 6-0 victory over Ab. Con. Club. The leg scores were 16-10, 16-15, 12-11. For The Heathens P.Adams 12, A.Woolloff included a 6 in his 10, D.Butler & P.Longford 8 each and T.Downes 6 including a 3rd leg 4 to pinch all the points. For C.Club T.Barrett 8 and D.Coles 7. P.Barrett let The Heathens off in the second leg when he could have got at least a point. A.Wood started badly and the got worse and ended up with 2 dolls.
Ab. Legion beat Penlon 5-1 with leg scores of 20-14, 13-13, 14-12. For Legion N.Hazell 10, D.Sapey 8, S.Champ & P.Ealey 7 each and C.Brind 6. In reply for Penlon P.Wright 9, T.Lach included a blob in his 8 and I.Morrison 7. P.Stone recorded a ‘Nelson’ 1-1-1.
Ab. Utd. ‘C’ won their first game of the seaon when they beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 5-1. Yeah, it was so unlikely even Victor Meldrew didn’t believe it. The leg scores were 15-12, 15-15, 15-13. For Utd. ‘C’ M.James hit 11 (the same amount as in his previous 3 games combined), C.Keeley 8, M.Ashmall and Jon Warrell 7 each. For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin and M.Putt 8 each and D.Harris 7.
Spread Eagle ‘B’ beat The spread ‘A’ 4-2 with leg scores of 15-15, 20-13, 13-13. For Spread ‘B’ L.Clapton 12, B.Stowell included a 6 in his 11, N.Weston hit 1-6-1 and A.Bell hit 7. For Spread ‘A’ J.Gapper 9, J.Simmons 8, B.Newman, S.Humphries and J.Bowler each scored 6 dolls.
