Game reports.

Spread Eagle ‘A’s equal highest total of  40 doll’s was enough to beat Ab. Con. Club 4-2 with leg scores of 15-11, 10-15, 15-11.  For The Spread J.Bowler hit 12 (his highest score this season), S.Humphries 11 & J.Gapper 9.  The Con. Club also equalled their highest total (37) and for them P.Barrett 12 & B.Clapton 9.

The Heathens beat Old Masters 6-0 with leg scores of 14-11, 18-6, 14-13.  For The Heathens  B.Adams 12, A.Woolloff included a 6 in his 11, D.Butler 9 & D.Holmes 8.  In reply for OM J.Lesiakowski top scored with 7 and in the 3rd leg needing 4 to draw just missed with his last stick to do so.

Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Spread Eagle ‘B’ 4-2 and The Spreads’ 34 dolls equalled their lowest total.  The leg scores were 19-10, 11-13, 16-11.  For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dixs’ 14 dolls meant that he pipped B.Parker to the highest doll’s who hit 10.  D.Davies 8, T.Ward & B.Duff 7 each.  For Spread ‘B’ B.Stowell & L.Clapton 8 each, R.Nicholls & S.Enock 7 each.

Ab. Utd. ‘B’ and Utd. ‘C’ drew 3-3 with leg scores of 7-8, 9-9, 15-12.  For Utd. ‘B’ S.Martin 9, P.Arnold & D.Harris 7 each.  In reply for Utd. ‘C’ Jim & Jon Warrell each scored 8 doll’s,  Jons’ highest score of the season.

Penlon needing to beat Ab. Legion to 5-1 to pip them to the title got off to a flying start by winning the 1st leg but slumped to a 2-4 defeat.  The leg scores were 15-12, 10-13, 5-19.  For Penlon T.Lach 10 & D.Bellcourt 9.  For The Legion C.Brind & D.Sapey 11 each, P.Ealey 10 & S.Champ 8 as they equalled their highest total of the season (44).

 p.s.  These will be my last notes of the season apart from those in the Finals Night programme so would like to take this opportunity to ask those who are not playing on finals night to perhaps come along anyway.  I have invited Basil Collins along to present the trophies so some of you may want to come along to see him.
