Game reports.
Ab. Legion and The Heathens were battling for runners up spot realistically and The Heathens edged it after a 3-3 draw. The leg scores were 15-15,13-18, 17-15. For Legion S.Champ & P.Ealey 10 each and C.Brind 9. In reply for Heathens (who failed to win any of their last 5 games) P.Adams hit 5-5-5, T.Downes 9, B.Townsend, P.Longford and A.Woolloff 8 each.
The Vine beat Spread Eagle 4-2 and then had to wait for Penlon result to see if they had done enough to clinch ‘B’ section. The leg scores were 17-13, 15-15, 15-15. For The Vine S.Peedell & J.Pownceby 10 each, R.Harrison 7 and D.Hamilton 6. For Spread ‘A’ J.Simmons had not recorded a 6 or a blob all season but managed to have one of each in his 10 dolls. J.Bowler also hit 10, B.Newman 7 and S.Humphries 6.
Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat their ‘B’ counterparts 5-1 with leg scores of 17-12, 17-12, 15-15. For Utd. ‘A’ B.Parker included a 6 in his 12, D.Dix 11, K.Fisher 10, D.Davies and T.Ward 8 each. For Utd. ‘B’ A.Gregory making only his second appearance this season hit 8 dolls, S.Martin 7 and J.Lesiakowski 6.
Penlon p****d on The Vines parade by drawing 3-3 with Spread Eagle ‘B’ thus clinching the ‘B’ section. The leg scores were 11-17, 12-10, 13-13. For Penlon I.Morrison 8 and ‘Steady Eddie’ Jeffries 7. In reply for Spread ‘B’ A.Bell hit his highest score of the season (13) and L.Clapton 10.
Ab. Con. Club and Ab. Utd. ‘C’ bought the curtain down on the season with C.C. winning 4-2. The leg scores were 12-11, 11-12, 19-6 and remember that 6 included a handicap of 3. For Con. Club T.Barrett 9, B.Clapton 7, D.Todd and P.Barrett 6 each. For ‘The Scarecrow Boys ‘Big Bad ‘ Jon Warrell hit 6 .
