Game reports.
The Vine recorded their first win in the Winter League with a 4-2 win over Ab Utd. ‘C’ with leg scores of 17-15, 13-18, 20-10. For The Vine D.Hamilton hit a cracking 13, J.Hamilton 11, M.Dingle 7 and J.Pownceby included a blob in his 6. Well done boys. For Utd. ‘C’ M.James hit his first double figures of the season (10), J.Warrell 9 & C.Keeley 8.
Ab. Legion beat Ab. Con. Club 4-2 meaning Con. Club recorded their first points of the season. The leg scores were 15-17, 18-12, 19-17. For The Legion S.Champ 11, N.Hazell & C.Brind 9 each, P.Ealey included a blob in his 8 and D.Sapey hit 6. For Con. Club the returning T.Barrett hit 13, M.Neal, D.Coles, B.Clapton & P.Barrett all hit 6.
Ab. Utd. ‘A’ beat Spread Eagle ‘B’ 6-0 but on seeing match card I see that The Spread missed a chance to take points. The leg scores were 15-14, 17-16, 17-8. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix included a 6 in his 14, B.Parker 13, T.Ward 10 & K.Fisher 8. I see that Phil ‘Smokin’ Soden was reduced to just a smoulder this week. In reply for Spread ‘B’ S.Enock 10, A.Bell 8 and I.Brook 6.
Penlon beat Spread Eagle ‘A’ who couldn’t record a point – or C.R.A.P. for short. I didn’t see that coming. The leg scores were 18-11, 10-8, 14-12. For Penlon T.Phipps top scored with 9 dolls (really ? ), T.Lach & D.Bellcourt 7 each and P.Wright 6. For The Spread B.Newman 8 & J.Bowler 6. Was John Simmons throwing blindfold this week ?
The Heathens beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 5-1 with leg scores of 18-15, 10-10, 20-17. For The Heathens P.Longford included a 6 in his 12, B.Townsend also hit 12, P.Adams 11, D.Butler 7 and T.Downes 6. For Utd. ‘B’ K.Empson 8, S.Martin & R.Taylor 7 each and D.Harris 6. Nice to see that Helen was back playing – I take it that the Bingo had been cancelled lol.
