Spread Eagles’ mojo returned this week with a 4-2 win over Ab. Utd. ‘A’ with leg scores of 15-12, 10-17, 19-11. For The Spread J.Gapper 12, J.Simmons 10 & S.Kinnaird 6. In reply for Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix 12, B.Parker 10, D.Davies 8 & K.Fisher 6.
Penlon beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ 6-0. The leg scores were 10-9, 17-13, 17-14. For Penlon T.Lach and P.Stone 8 each, I.Morrison 7, P.Wright & D.Bellcourt 6 each. The handicap top scored with 9 for both sides. For Utd. ‘C’ C.Keeley and Jon Warrell each scored 8.
Spread Eagle ‘B’ beat The Heathens 6-0 with leg scores of 16-15, 17-10, 21-12. For Spread ‘B’, who had their highest dolls of the season (54), S.Enock hit a 6 in his 13, B.Stowell hit two 5’s in his 11, A.Bell & L.Clapton 9 each and I.Brook 6. For The Heathens P.Adams 13, P.Longford & T.Downes 7 each and Dave ‘Dusty Bin’ Butler 3-2-1.
Ab. Legion beat Ab. Utd. ‘B’ 6-0 with leg scores of 15-12, 17-11, 16-12. For the Legion C.Brind 13, S.Champ 9, P.Ealey 8 and D.Sapey 6. In reply for Utd. ‘B’ M.Putt topped with 7, S. Martin & D.Harris 6 each.
Ab. Con. Club ‘clipped’ The Vine win to only 4-2 with a massive 20 doll 3rd leg. Scores were 10-14, 13-16, 20-13. For Con. Club Brian ‘watch this’ Clapton 10, T.Barrett 9 and P.Barrett 7. For The Vine M.Dingle, D.Hamilton, J.Hamilton & J.Pownceby all scored 7 and R.Harrison 6. Both Matt Dingle and Alan Wood might want to start a team called The Ceilings with Terry Phipps. Ceilings, nothing more than ceilings. Try to forget…………
Summary by Tosh
The night saw the top two sides in ‘A’ section lose their first game of the season, and saw Utd ‘A’ leapfrog The Heathens at the top but left ‘A’ section looking a lot tighter. In the ‘B’ section meanwhile Penlon extended their lead. Yeah, the Ceilings joke was lost on me as well.
