Singles competitions were held at four venues on Thursday evening.

Due to the fifth team (Black Horse Gozzards Ford) withdrawing from H section the Committee have agreed to a new fixture list prepared by the Secretary that means the remaining 5 teams can play games with each other twice (home/away) for the rest of the season.
In order to be a fair competition for the remaining teams the section/scores will be ZEROED for weeks 1-9 (i.e. the previous weeks) and in effect the season restarts from scratch for the 5 remaining teams.
This new fixture extend into September and only apply to H Section and are:-

Well no luck for the Abingdon League in the World Championships this year.
Our own players got knocked out before the quarter finals with Roger Goodall taking the trophy and the prizemoney.

Abingdon United B vs Spread Eagle
If you know and play Aunt Sally you’ll know that Charlbury Beer Festival started the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS a few years back.
Last year our own Abingdon League Barry Parker was runner-up in the competition going out to Henry Johnson of Yarnton of all places !
There aren’t many Abingdon players in the fray and there are a few places left – it’s limited to 32 playing all heats on the afternoon.
It’s free to enter (past the Beer Fest entry fee) and there’s a trophy and the bragging rights of being a WORLD CHAMPION at something!
