Game reports.
Ab. Legion and the promoted Penlon kicked off the new season with Legion running out 4-2 winners. The leg scores were 15-9, 15-16, 11-10. For Legion C.Brind 10, S.Champ, P.Ealey & D.Sapey 8 each and B.Lacey 7. For Penlon I.Morrison 11, E.Jeffries 8, D.Bellcourt 7 and T.Lach hit 6. Terry ‘Polyfilla’ Phipps recorded the first blob of the season and soon followed it up with another.
The handicapped Ab. Utd. ‘A’ ( yeah they had Tony playing, lol ) beat Ab. Con. Club 6-0 with leg scores of 14-10, 14-13, 15-9. For Utd. ‘A’ D.Dix 11, B.Parker 10, D.Davies 9 & B.Duff 8. In reply for Con. Club B.Clapton & P.Barrett each scored 6 dolls.
The Heathens beat Spread Eagle ‘A’ 6-0 with leg scores of 15-8, 15-9, 15-11. Top scorer for Heathens was close season signing B.Townsend with 11. D.Holmes & P.Longford 10 each, D.Butler included a blob in his 8 and T.Downes 6. For Spread ‘A’ J.Bowler 11 and J.Gapper 6.
Ab. Utd. ‘B’ beat Ab. Utd. ‘C’ who couldn’t record a point or C.R.A.P. for short. The leg scores were 8-4, 11-8, 11-7 For Utd. ‘B’ A.Pocock 9, S.Martin and Roy ‘The Pope’ Taylor each scored 8. For The Abingdon Young Farmers the less said the better.
Spread Eagle ‘B’ beat Spread ‘C’ 6-0 with leg scores of 19-8, 15-6, 17-9. For Spread ‘B’ L.Clapton recorded the first 6 of the season in his 14, N.Weston 13, S.Enock 10, B.Stowell & R.Nicholls 7 each. For ‘Mr. Browns Boys’ the returning P.Soden top scored with 7 dolls.
