Summer League 2016 – Final Check

All the teams and player names are now in the online scoring system (thanks James/Paul) so please tell your Secretaries to check the players (and spelling!) and email if corrections are needed. You should also have received your fixture packs including new scorecards with the new Dolly Recorder’s address on (don’t use old scorecards please!) but the fixture list etc is of course available for download and printing from the website.

All team Secretaries should also try to login to ensure they are ready to enter their first winning game! Note the password reset option will only work if your username has a valid email address! Contact us if you have problems  as any teams not entering their cards online may be subject to disqualification subject to a Committee decision.

Last but not least………The G Section will have a separate fixture list as there are only 5 teams there. This will be posted online later.

Summer League 2016 – it all starts on Star Wars Day!

May4th.jpgFor those of you who don’t know the Summer League is starting on the 4th May (May the Fourth be with you!) – I know, but you won’t forget it now will you!

We’re putting the finishing touches to the competition and fixture lists and they’ll be going to the printers very soon then we distribute them by hand to the venues.

We have 61 teams registered this year and that means a full Premier/A and F section (10 teams), sections B,C,D, E have one bye and section G is made up of 5 teams twice over so they get plenty of Aunt Sally! We did it this way rather than confuse things with an 11 team fixture with a longer season.

We’ve also got a new sponsor this year in Matthew Tutty Plumbing & Heating so many thanks for supporting us this season Matthew!

P.S. Don’t forget Tosh is back this week so be on your best behaviour.

Previously In The Winter League…..

As you know we played the Week 9 Old Masters vs The Heathens match while Tosh was on holiday to catch up with the game that was postponed.

The Heathens beat Old Masters 6-0 with leg scores of 14-10 13-12 18-15. For Old Masters M ‘new heart’ Beachey top scored with 10 and A.Pocock, S.Skelly and J.Lesiakowski 7 each which were nice scores for them but not enough. For The Heathens D.Holmes 3x4s for 12,  D.Butler & B.Adams 10 and A.Bell 8. Maybe they didn’t need Tosh after all…..

TEAM P W D L FOR AGT PTS AVE
1 Ab. Utd. ‘A’ 14 12 1 1 683 451 74 16.26
2 The Heathens 14 12 1 1 566 464 62 13.47
3 Spread Eagle ‘B’ 14 10 1 3 595 490 60 14.16
4 Spread Eagle ‘A’ 14 5 0 9 451 528 34 10.73
5 Old Masters 14 2 1 11 407 534 22  9.69

With this match done the tables are all square (that’s a geometry pun as we all know they are actually rectangular).

Singles Competition

We also played the last few rounds of the Singles competition and the players through to the Semi-Finals are:-

D.Butler, B.Parker, S.Martin and N.Weston

I think we’d all agree that the best match was the quarter final between D.Dix and B.Parker (the rest were, quite honestly, a bit hit and miss – but that’s what singles is all about – the taking part).

In previous games of the night they were both doing enough to get through 3s and 4s so we all knew the anti would have to be upped in this match. Barry set with a glorious 1 which Dave doubled – so much for the ‘practice’ leg!

Barry then set a 5 which Dave uncharacteristically only got 4 in reply missing his last two sticks. Dave then set with a 5 and we thought it might be all over. The pressure was on the Iceman to deliver a full house for a place in the semi final.  Well the room fell silent as he threw 5 sticks winning 5 dolls and erupted as he cracked the 6th doll off. Well done to both players for some excellent sticks.

The semi-final draw will be made on Finals Night.

p.s.  Wasn’t there some c*** calling tonight.  If that comment offends anyone I would just like to say in all seriousness that I don’t give a s*** as I’m on holiday for 2 weeks and I will be leaving you in the capable hands of  Brian Clapton and Paul Stone.  Feel free to give them the same amount of grief that you give me, lol.  Good luck to all.  Missing you already.
